Best practices for creating WhatsApp messages
All messages must first be approved by WhatsApp. We recommend you follow these best practices to increase the chances of getting your messages approved by WhatsApp:
- Create simple and concise messages that will convey the information clearly to the users.
- Proofread your content for spelling and grammar before sending it for approval. Messages with misspellings or grammatical errors will get rejected by WhatsApp.
- Make sure you include the full URL of your links. Do not use short links (links generated using a URL shortener like bit.ly, tinyurl, etc.) because these links are known to obscure the intended link destination. Additionally, the URL domain in your links should belong to your business.
- The language selected must match the content of your message. If you select Spanish as the message template language but the content is in English, your message will be rejected.
- Transactions must comply with the WhatsApp Commerce Policy. When you offer goods or services for sale, WhatsApp considers all messages and media related to your goods or services, including any descriptions, prices, fees, taxes and/or any required legal disclosures, to constitute transactions.
- Messages must comply with the Whatsapp Business Policy. Do not request sensitive identifiers from users (individual payment card numbers, financial account numbers, National Identification numbers, etc.). You also cannot offer coupon codes or free gifts, upsell, or send cold-call messages via WhatsApp.
- Messages should not contain any abusive content or threatening content.
