In this article, we will explain how to manually subscribe or blacklist a contact from your emails and SMS.
While you can manually subscribe or blacklist contacts, please note that Sendinblue will automatically blacklist contacts in the following cases:
- For emails:
- They have unsubscribed from your emails by using your unsubscription form.
- They have marked your emails as spam.
- An email to the contact resulted in a hard bounce.
- For SMS:
- They have unsubscribed from your SMS by using your unsubscription form.
- They have unsubscribed from your SMS by replying to your SMS campaign.
You can also import a list of contacts to add to your blacklist.
Good to know

- In Contacts, all your blacklisted contacts appear in red with a
icon on the left of their email address.
Manually subscribe or blacklist a specific contact
Go to Contacts or to CRM > CRM Contacts and click the email address of a contact to open their details page. Then, manually subscribe or blacklist a contact:
For email campaigns
At the top of the contact details page, click Email campaigns:
- Select Subscribed to subscribe the contact to all of your email campaigns.
- Select Blacklisted to blacklist the contact from all of your email campaigns.
For SMS campaigns
At the top of the contact details page, click SMS campaigns:

- Select Subscribed to subscribe your contact to your SMS campaigns.
- Select Blacklisted to blacklist your contact from your SMS campaigns.
For transactional emails
At the top of the contact details page, click Transactional emails:
- Select Approve all senders to approve the sending of transactional emails to the contact (from any of your senders).
- Select Block all senders to block the sending of transactional emails to the contact (from any of your senders).
- Toggle the button next to a specific sender to:
- Green button: approve the sending of transactional emails to the contact from this specific sender, or
- Grey button: block the sending of transactional emails to the contact from this specific sender.
For transactional SMS
At the top of the contact details page, click Transactional SMS:

- Select Approved to approve the sending of transactional SMS to the contact.
- Select Blocked to block the sending of transactional SMS to the contact.
Manually blacklist several contacts
❗️ Important
By following this procedure, your contacts will only be blacklisted from your email campaigns. To blacklist a contact from your SMS campaigns, transactional emails, and transactional SMS, see Manually subscribe or blacklist a specific contact.
To manually blacklist several contacts from your email campaigns:
- Go to Contacts.
- Check the box next to the contacts you want to blacklist.
- Click Action.
- Select Add to Blacklist.
- Type BLACKLIST to confirm.
- Click Yes, I want to blacklist these contacts.
