Example step 1 for OVH: Delegation of your subdomain

If you have purchased a dedicated IP from SendinBlue, you will need to associate this IP with a domain name in order for it to work. We recommend creating a subdomain on your primary domain name and associating this subdomain with your SendinBlue IP. Your email marketing strategy's success relies heavily on establishing trust with your email recipients and ISPs (internet service providers). Start developing this trust by being as transparent as possible with your subdomain, for example: email.yoursite.com.
If you are unable to delegate a subdomain, you can also buy a domain name from a web hosting service such as ovh.com or gandi.net and associate it with your dedicated IP. You should purchase a domain name that includes the name of your website, for example: yoursite-email.com. This tutorial outlines the process for delegating your subdomain (or email marketing domain) within OVH, however you can also learn how to delegate your subdomain on Gandi.net.

There are two ways to delegate within OVH:
Method 1: Delegating a subdomain, such as email.yoursite.com
Method 2: Delegating a FQDN (fully qualified domain name) such as yoursite-email.com.
Caution: do not delegate a domain name that is hosting a website.

Method 1: How to delegate a subdomain name with OVH.com

1. Login to your OVH account.

2. Select your domain name and click on "DNS Zone".

5. Add your preferred subdomain, such as email.yoursite.com or newsletter.yoursite.com.

a. For TTL, enter: 0 b. For Type, choose: NS c. For target, add both:

  • ns1.sendinblue.com.

Note: You must include the period at the end of each target.

Step 1 e for delegating your subdomain to SendinBlue

Once you have completed all the steps, please be sure to save before exiting. We recommend waiting at least one day before moving to the next step to confirm that your subdomain has been delegated successfully. Once ready, you can complete the second step to associate your IP with your subdomain name within your SendinBlue account.

Method 2: How to delegate a FQDN with OVH.com

Caution: Do not perform this process on your website's primary domain name. You should only use this method if you have purchased a domain name reserved for email marketing.

If you purchased a domain name from OVH, you'll need to update the primary and secondary DNS to ns1.sendinblue.com and ns2.sendinblue.com.

1. Login to your OVH account.

2. Select your domain name and click on "DNS Management".

Step 2 b for delegating your domain to SendinBlue

3. Click on "Authorize DNS Configuration".

Step 2 c for delegating your domain to SendinBlue

4. Click on the "+" button to add new settings.

5. Add the SendinBlue DNS servers

Add "ns1.sendinblue.com" in the DNS server field and leave the "IP associated" field blank. Next, repeat the same process and add "ns2.sendinblue.com" as a secondary DNS server.

Step 2 e for delegating your domain to SendinBlue

6. Delete the OVH NS (name servers) listed on the "DNS Management" tab.

Once you have completed all the steps, please be sure to save before exiting. We recommend waiting at least one day before moving to the next step to confirm that your subdomain has been delegated successfully. Once ready, you can complete the second step to associate your IP with your subdomain name within your SendinBlue account.
